Toldrà meets Shaw, Trame Sonore Festival

  • Museo Virgilio Mantova Italy (map)

The works of Caroline Shaw and Eduard Toldrà will meet each other and merge in a concert where physical places are transformed into a musical experience.

In Vistas al Mar, Toldrà transforms the maritime poetry of Joan Maragall into sound: the shimmer of the sea, the wind, the Mediterranean light, and the movement of the waves. In Plan & Elevation, Shaw does something similar, though from a different sensibility: she draws inspiration from the gardens and architecture of Dumbarton Oaks, where each movement reflects a different space- a garden, a grove, a structure- exploring how we perceive proportion, distance and texture.

Ultimately, both compositions invite us to hear how a space can shape our perception of time: the sea in Toldrà, the garden and architecture in Shaw. Two very different landscapes, but the same underlying idea: transforming contemplation into music.
